Cancellations & Make-Up Lessons

Please email or text me as soon as you reasonably can if you need to cancel your lesson or reschedule for later in the week.

Cancellations within 24 hours of the lesson will still be charged. Lessons must be cancelled by 11:59 the night before to be eligible for a make-up credit. Exceptions may be granted for illness and emergencies, but please let me know early, not right before your lesson.

Please do cancel your lesson if you are sick or have been around someone who is sick. Do not attempt to sing if your voice is hoarse or in pain. Vocal health related cancellations will be given a make-up credit, but please let me know early.

Make-up lessons must be scheduled within the next 90 days, after which they will expire. Make-up lessons cannot be used in place of your regular weekly lesson or to push back the due date of the next payment. Make-up credits cannot be refunded or used to lower the price of next month’s invoice.

My scheduling software sends out an automated lesson reminder via email 24 hour before your lesson. Please let me know if you are not receiving these emails or if you would prefer text reminders.

If you know ahead of time that you will miss a lesson, and you notify me more than 24 hours before your lesson (before you receive the automated lesson reminder), you may carry over the missed lesson as a credit to your next month’s invoice. This may be done only once per month with one lesson.

If you will be missing multiple weeks, you need to communicate that to me before you pay your monthly invoice so I can adjust the charge.

Tardiness & No-Shows

Please text me if you are going to be more than 5 minutes late to your lesson. Emails are much less likely to be seen by me in time. Late-starting lessons will end at the normal scheduled time.

Fifteen minutes after the start time, if I do not hear from you, the lesson will be considered a no-show. It is not my responsibility to remind you if you are not at the lesson when it begins, or to notify you that you missed a lesson.

No-shows will be charged as a normal lesson and are not eligible for a make-up credit.

Habitual (unexcused) tardiness or no-shows will result in removal from the studio.

Payment

Monthly lesson invoices are due on the 1st of the month.

Lessons that have not been paid for by the time of the lesson will be postponed.

Monthly lessons include 4 or 5 once-weekly lessons depending on when your lesson is during the week. Please be aware that your monthly charge will be higher when there are 5 lesson-weeks in a month (e.g. when you have a lesson on the 1st and 29th of the month). Invoices are sent out 7 days before the 1st.

Please let me know before the end of the month if you need any adjustments to next month’s invoice (going on vacation, pausing lessons, etc).

Lessons are billed through software called My Music Staff which will send email invoices and automated lesson reminders. Please be sure to check your junk mail folder for emails from: Adams-Voice Studio via My Music Staff <noreply@mymusicstaff.com> or <alexander@adams-voice.com>

Lesson invoices must be paid by the due date. Upcoming lessons may be put on hold until outstanding invoices are paid.

Payment can be made online through PayPal (no account required) by clicking the link on the Lesson Invoice, or by mailed check. Make checks payable to Alexander Adams and mail to the address listed on the invoice.

All payments are final and non-refundable, except in cases of a billing error on my part. Please notify me before paying if something on your invoice seems incorrect.

Lesson Recordings

All online lessons taught over Zoom may be recorded. The recordings are confidential and will not be shared with anyone else; they are for organization, record keeping, and professional development. If you would like a copy of a particular lesson recording (if available), you may request individual audio files by sending an email to alexander@adams-voice.com.

IMPORTANT: I cannot make any guarantee that a particular lesson recording will be available upon request. Zoom will occasionally delete, corrupt, or otherwise fail to record a lesson and I don’t have control over when that happens, unfortunately. Therefore, I do not officially offer the lesson recordings as a part of taking voice lessons with Adams-Voice Studio and do not guarantee that a recording of every lesson will exist.

I highly encourage my students to take responsibility for their own recordings rather than rely on me to provide them. With the amount of students in my studio I simply cannot keep up with processing, labelling and distributing every lesson recording. You can record your own lesson on Zoom by pressing Alt+R or by clicking “Record on this Computer” on the bottom toolbar (might be under “More …”). Zoom recordings are by default placed in the following directories on your computer: Windows: C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Zoom. Mac: /Users/[Username]/Documents/Zoom. Linux: home/[Username]/Documents/Zoom.

You may do whatever you wish with your personal lesson recordings but I request that you please do not upload or share any video of me or any audio of my voice without my written permission. Also, please do not upload lessons to YouTube, TikTok, or any other form of social media. The comments and suggestions that I make during your lessons are highly specific to you and your voice in that particular moment. Out of context, the advice that works for you may be entirely inappropriate for another singer, but they won’t know that without a teacher to guide them.
