Alexander R Adams, bass-baritone
Alexander R Adams is a classically trained bass-baritone singer, voice actor, and voice teacher living in Portland, Oregon.
Alexander received his Master of Music in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studied with renowned baritone Rod Gilfry. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Puget Sound where he studied under Dawn Padula.
Some of Alexander's recent opera performances include the role of Publio in Mozart's La clemenza di Tito, Minister/Chorus in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, and Mr. Plunkett/Judge in Henze's The English Cat, all while at USC Thornton; Sprecher/Armored Man in The Magic Flute at the Astoria, Oregon music festival; as well as Bottom in scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream and Sergeant of the Police in Pirates of Penzance, both with the UPS opera program.
In addition to opera performance, Alexander is regularly featured as a soloist with choirs, such as in Bach Cantata BWV 4 "Christ lag in Todesbanden" with USC's student-run Luce Chorus, Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music with the USC Chamber Choir, and the Faurè Requiem with the Adlephian Concert Choir. Alexander performed live for millions of internet streamers at E3 2016 God of War Reveal as part of the chorus in a live orchestra rendition of music from the game.
Alexander has been a member of many professional, semi-pro, and student choirs, most notably USC Thornton's Chamber Singers directed by Jo-Michael Scheibe, and UPS's Adelphian Concert Choir directed by Steven Zopfi. He has also held several staff singer and section leader positions in semi-pro choirs and church choirs. Alexander currently sings with the St. Michael's Singers at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Portland, Oregon.
